Due to the lack of a firm commitment for a televised air date of the event, the decision has been made to cancel the Twin 25’s Midget race scheduled for June 12, 2004, at Indianapolis Raceway Park.
“From the first event in 2002, a critical element to the success of the Twin 25’s formula has been the fact that it’s always been nationally televised. On April 22, we cancelled the 2004 Indianapolis race because there was still no firm commitment to a television air date,” said Steve Lewis, Premier Racing Entertainment, producer of the event. “The Twin 25’s is always an exciting race and should be televised. The sponsors deserve it, the teams deserve it and the fans deserve it.”
The title sponsor of the Twin 25’s is Mopar, with ARP providing a $50,000 bonus to the driver who wins both of the night’s 25-lap feature races. The challenge is that the winner of the first 25-lap feature race starts dead last in the second 25-lap feature race, so the driver must pass the entire field to collect the big money.
Associate Sponsors of the Twin 25’s Indianapolis race are Racer Magazine, Calico Coatings, MSD Ignition, Corteco, Turbines Inc., Probe Industries and C&R Racing Inc.
Lewis said plans are already underway for a 2005 Twin 25’s schedule. “The Twin 25’s have proved to be a huge success, with a near-capacity crowd at Irwindale Speedway in March,” he said. “We plan to secure the best television package for the events in 2005, and have plans to expand our Twin 25’s event into new markets.”
